Drive Replacement In the event a pool’s drive becomes faulted, it is necessary to replace it with a new, healthy one. To identify a faulted drive, navigate to the Pool Management page. The pool status will show DEGRADED indicating a faulted drive (see example below). Replace a Faulted Drive Identify the faulted drive’s serial number. Locate the drive in the system. Remove the faulted drive from the system. Put a new drive where the the faulted one was removed. Navigate to the pool with the faulted drive. Navigate to the Notable Drives card and click Replace. Select one of the available drives. Compare the drives to ensure the best match is being used. Click Replace to finalize the replacement. Utilize a Hot Spare When a drive fails, the pool will appoint an available hot spare to take the faulted drive’s position. Permanently replace the faulted drive with the Hot Spare: Navigate to the pool. Click Use spare as permanent replacement button located in the Notable Drives card. A prompt will appear with a confirmation flyout asking to continue with the replacement, Click Yes. Remove the faulted drive from the system. Put a new drive where the the faulted one was removed. Configure the newly added drive as the new hot spare.
