Creating Datasets Creating datasets is the fundamental building block of storing data, applying permissions, applying Data Protection policies, enabling encryption, and various security features. In BrickStor SP, datasets are organized in hierarchical order with features enabled on the top/parent dataset propagating down to the children. Any dataset can provide its own settings by disabling the inheritance. This allows for building variate of configurations solving wide range of complex use cases. To create a dataset, follow the steps below. Navigate to the Datasets page. Click the Create button. Select the desired Pool and parent Dataset. Choose a Storage Profile. (Optional) Select Copy settings from another dataset to copy settings from another dataset. (Optional) Provide a Description. Enabled one or more features. The wizard will guide you through the process of enabling each feature below. SMB Share NFS Share S3 Bucket Dataset Encryption Encryption can only be configured during the initial creation of a dataset. It cannot be enabled or disabled later.
