Snapshots

The Dataset Snapshots feature manages snapshots through clone, hold, expiration, and destroy operations.

Individual snapshot operations

View a snapshot

  1. Navigate to the Dataset Snapshots - Coverage page.

  2. Choose a filesystem.

  3. Click the action cog cog icon.

  4. Choose "Open Snapshots".

  5. Select the desired snapshot.

Clone a snapshot

  1. Navigate to the Dataset Snapshots - Coverage page.

  2. Click the action cog cog icon.

  3. Click "Clone".

  4. Click the "Clone" button.

Destroy a snapshot

  1. Navigate to the Dataset Snapshots - Coverage page.

  2. Click the action cog cog icon.

  3. Choose "Destroy".

  4. Type "destroy snapshot" to confirm.

  5. Hit the "Destroy" button.

Hold a snapshot

  1. Navigate to the Dataset Snapshots - Coverage page.

  2. Click the action cog cog icon.

  3. Choose "Add Hold".

  4. Use the calendar calender icon, pre-configured time time picker, or the manual-entry field to set the hold.

  5. Hit the "Hold" button.

Set a snapshot expiration

  1. Navigate to the Dataset Snapshots - Coverage page.

  2. Click the action cog cog icon.

  3. Choose "Set Expiration".

  4. Choose which snapshots are affected: local and replica, local only, or replica only.

  5. Use the calendar calender icon, pre-configured time time picker , or the manual-entry field to set the expiration.

Bulk operations

Bulk operations are applied to all snapshots on the chosen dataset; there are four operations available: holding, expiring, destroying, and releasing.

Navigate to Bulk Operations

  1. Navigate to the Dataset Snapshots - Coverage page.

  2. Choose a filesystem.

  3. Click the action cog cog icon.

  4. Choose "Open Snapshots".

  5. Select the Bulk drop down menu, in the top left of the table.

Hold dataset snapshots

  1. Navigate to Bulk Operations.

  2. Choose the Holds option.

  3. (Optional) Enter a name for the hold operation in the Add Hold field.

  4. Use the calendar calender icon, pre-configured time time picker, or the manual-entry field to set the hold time.

  5. Click the Hold button.

Expire dataset snapshots

  1. Navigate to Bulk Operations.

  2. Choose the Expire option.

  3. Select one of the Set options: Local and replica, Local only and Replica only.

  4. Use the calendar calender icon, pre-configured time time picker, or the manual-entry field to set the expiration time.

  5. Click the Hold button.

Destroy dataset snapshots

  1. Navigate to Bulk Operations.

  2. Choose the Destroy option.

  3. Enter the prompted text into the Confirmation field.

  4. Click the Destroy button.

Release dataset snapshots

  1. Navigate to Bulk Operations.

  2. Choose the Release option.

  3. Use the checkbox(es) to select the desired snapshots.

  4. Click the Release button.
