About Data Protection

Data Protection is a BrickStor SP feature that provides data availability by managing and automatically creating data snapshots. Snapshots are immutable read-only instances of a file system or volume at a given time. Snapshots are a means to recover data. They can be also replicated to another pool on the same appliance and/or another BrickStor SP device elsewhere.

Snapshots can be cloned nearly instantaneously into a writable copy of the original file system/volume. Clones share all their disk space with the original snapshot so initially, clones consume no additional disk space. See clones for more details.
